Hola a todos en la entrada de hoy les daré algunos tips de supervivencia básicos (y no tan básicos) para que se la pasen muy bien en cualquier convención o evento al que vayan.

Hello everyone. Today's post is about basic (and not so basic) survival tips for conventions and events. WIth this guide you'll have a fun and positive experience anywhere you go.

1. Información básica del evento.

Basic Event Information.

En cuanto te enteres de que habrá un evento "X" al que quieres ir averigua donde será, por cuantos días, costo de boletos(que incluye)y donde y como comprarlos.

As soon as you find out there's "X" event you want to go find out ASAP the venue, how many days, ticket cost (what they give you access to) and where and how to buy.

2. Tansporte

Transportation

Si el evento en tu ciudad o estado (provincia) pregunta si hay estacionamiento para tu auto y cuanto cuesta. Si no tienes carro averigua con anticipación como llegar en transporte público. De lo contrario comienza a revisar aerolineas lo antes posible.

If the event is in your town or state (province) ask around if there's parking for your car and the fee. If you don't have a car find out early how to get there with public transportation. If you have to take a plane start checking company rates ASAP.

3. Hospedaje

Accomodation

Si el evento terminará muy noche o es fuera de tu ciudad te recomiendo hospedarte en hotel. En cuanto tengas tus boletos para el evento llama a varios lugares, compara tarifas y ubicacion

If the event ends late or it's out of town I recommend getting a hotel room. As soon as you get your tickets call several places, compare prices and locations

4. Haciendo la maleta

Packing!

Lleva SOLO lo necesario. Sobre todo si vas a un evento sin auto y no piensas quedarte en hotel. Piensa que todo lo que guardes en tu mochila deberás cargarlo todo el día tu solito.

Take stuff your really need. Specially if you are just going for a day, have no hotel room and are riding public transport. Remember all you put in your backpack you'll have to carry around yourself the whole day.

Nota para cosplayers / expositores: aunque llevas MUCHAS mas cosas que el asistente promedio, haz tu maleta una semana antes; y 2 días antes del evento dale una depurada.

Note for cosplayers / exhibitors: even though you are expected to bring way more stuff than the average con-goer, you should pack your things a week before leaving; and 2 days from the event re-check and pull out unwanted or unneeded stuff.

5. Dinero
Money

Lleva SIEMPRE Efectivo y una tarjeta de crédito o débito PARA EMERGENCIAS (además te pedirán una en el hotel como garantía). Este dinero es tu presupuesto para gastar en el evento. Te sugiero lo dividas en tres: comida, lujos, emergencias.

Si vas a un evento fuera de la ciudad compra despensa en una supermercado. Como snacks o cosas fáciles de preparar. Ahorrarás mucho tiempo y dinero.

Always have cash on you and take a check or credit card with you FOR EMERGENCY STUFF (besides you'll need a card as a guarantee at the hotel). This money should be your budget to spend DURING the event. I suggest dividing it into three: food, luxury, emergency.

If you are going out of town you should buy provisions from a local supermarket. Like snacks and easy stuff to prepare. You'll save time and money.

6. Reglas de comportamiento básico
Basic behavior rules.

No corras, no empujes, no ofendas. Si quieres tomarte una foto con o de alguien pídela amablemente. No te metas en las filas, es de mal gusto y te deja ver como una persona sin escrúpulos.

Don't run, push or offend people. If you want to take a picture of someone or with someone ask politely. Don't cut in line, it's tacky and you'll look like an asshole.

Si la gente quiere tomarse foto contigo porque llevas un cosplay estás en todo tu derecho de aprobar o negarte. Si hay alguien siguiéndote dile a los del staff.

If people want to take a picture with you because of your cosplay you have the right to decide if you want to or not. If people follow you around suspiciously tell the staff members.

7. Lleva a un amigo

Bring a friend

Si todo falla, algo te pasa o lo que sea siempre habrá alguien dispuesto a auxiliarte. Yo acostumbro ir sola, pero siempre termino encontrando amigos xD Lo mejor de dos mundos. Igual no te sientas mal por ir solo. Puedes conocer mucha gente. Aunque solo lo recomiendo para gente con cierta experiencia en eventos o alguien muy social y extrovertido.

If all else fails, if something happens or whatever there will always be someone willing to help. I always go alone but happen to bump to a bunch of friends. Don't be sad about going alone. It's super fun. You can meet people. I only recommend this if you are outgoing or happen to have experience going to cons.

Como muchos saben soy una veterana de Comic Con y de muchas pseudo convenciones en mi ciudad. Conozco lo mejor de ambos mundo y mi experiencia como asistente, invitado y expositor le da mayor peso a mi testimonio (o eso creo yo).
